PAPYRUS

papyplant.gif (7058 bytes) Papyrus is the paper invented 4,000 years ago by the Egyptians.

These plants have a tall, thin stem that grows to 3/4 meters high. The paper is made
by cutting the stem, peeling it, slicing it, then assembling it in longitudinal and horizontal stripes. The sheet is put under pressure for up to 21 days .
