Sheep's Crossing

From: Donna

Is it the same type of place as one of the 7 Greatest Places?
No, it's a different type of place.

About this Greatest Place:
Sheep's Crossing is located in the White Mountians of Arizona, USA. This is a wonderful place with a magic like quality to it. There is a trail head which leads to the top of Mount Baldy, aptly named due to the peak being above the tree line. The trail is seven miles long towards the end it becomes difficult due to the dramatic increase in elevation. The first four miles though are easy to walk and wind through a narrow pass in the mountians. There are numerous evergreens (spruce and firs). Lots of wildflowers and critters as well. To top it off there is a creek winding through as well which the trail follows. This is a very popular spot for avid hikers and families enjoying an afternoon picnic as well. I love this place mostly because you feel so secluded from therest of the world. It is a surprise to find in Arizona as well as most people think of Arizona as a hot dry desert and do not realize that the mountians are a cool retreat. As a matter of fact Sheep's Crossing is only accessible when there is no snow on the ground.
