Overview/Goals/Audience:
School group visitors often do not tie their museum experience with
classroom preparation or follow-up. Additionally, Museum experiences remain discrete events with no connecting thread. We propose to develop a simple "passport" to be sent to group leaders to help connect TGP OMNIfilm with components in permanent museum exhibitions.
Internal Contacts:
Education Department colleagues also working on Greatest Places programs, Exhibit Hall Directors, Hall program staff and volunteers, reservations staff
External contacts:
West Metro Program teachers, Anne Lelonde-Laux, Mary Crampton, other MAGE contacts
Timeline for Planning/Implementation:
Fall:
Joel Halvorson will work with West Metro teachers to devise activities for their own classes within museum exhibits. Mary will develop activities for her students in the museum. This year's Geographers Fair will use "Exploring Places" as the theme of the museum treasure hunt. These activities will serve as the base for a simple handout that can be mailed to teachers.
December:
Editing, writing handout
January:
Design and format
Completion date: January 28, 1998
