Program Overview(s):
There will be two preview events for the Greatest Places film. The first will be a preview for Louisville Science Center members only and the second will be a public opening. The Science Center will provide a speaker in relation to the greatest places, either directly before or after the film preview. Possibly have a lecture series for seven consecutive weeks; a speaker related to each of the greatest places each week. Provide Family Guide to audience members. Each week for seven weeks, a children book regarding the seven greatest places will be read to visitors by local celebrities. Possibly have each member bring an item to represent their place which will then be exchanged with another member to share what makes this item representative of their place and why.
Program Goals:
This program will enhance the audiences understanding of the film and the seven greatest places. It will give visitors the opportunity to explore more about the greatest places: the physical landscape, people and culture, plant and animal life, as well as science and geography concepts. These activities will enhance the common themes of the greatest places of diversity, unity, change, water, adaptation, and human interaction with environment.
