Overview: Students use inquiry to examine photos and start investigation of different places around the earth.

 

Grade Level: Middle School/Junior High

Outcomes: To use inquiry to read clues through photos and then investigate some of the greatest physical features on the earth.

 

Time Needed: 2 - 50 minute class periods.

Materials: 4-5 laminated pictures from seven or so different places (you may want to use the places featured in the Greatest Places Omni film)

 

Questions preprinted and pasted to the back of the photos

 

Activities:

When students walk in the door hand them a laminated photo and instruct them to sit in their usual seat.

Once all the students have arrived explain that the photos are taken from 7 different places. They should try to find the others in their group based on the where the photos are from.

When their group has assembled allow them to start investigating the questions on the back of the photo (see sheet below)
