Actitivties:

Staff Paleontologist or a geographer from USF speak to School Groups, for the 11:00 a.m.Imax show, 25 minutes prior to the beginning of the Greatest Places Imax film three days per week. The presentation will last 15 minutes and the Q & A take 10 minutes.

Teacher open house to view and understand the film.

Teacher workshops based on film themes using authentic curriculum.

The Greatest Places themed camp-ins

Using Bioworks, students will identify The Greatest Places biomes tying in a Central Florida connection, i.e., reading the land.

Visiting students are given a passport to visit stations in the museum displaying The Greatest Places . At each station the students receive a stamp in their passport. When their passport is filled with the appropriate number of stamps, they receive a gift or trinket from the science store.

High and Middle School students (possibly IB and dropout prevention teams) build an exhibit, to be displayed at MOSI, about The Greatest Places .

Cultural Arts Festival at MOSI--developed by middle school students.

Pre-K through second grade Greatest Places programs in the Discovery Room.

Computer classes at MOSI using Geolinks and GIS.

To provide a positive educational experience for school groups.

Time Needed:

For the run of the Imax movie.

Materials:
Maps, paper, pencils, rulers, globes, rubber stamps, passports, scotch tape, assorted supplies.

Locations:
Hillsborough District Schools and MOSI.

Program Audience:
Pre-K through 8th grade.
