Overview:

MOSI and local school districts will collaborate to present a series of workshops that will help teachers implement geographic education in a museum setting.

Grade Level:

6th-12th grade teachers

Greatest Places Theme:

Spatial Perspectives, ongoing process, local connections

Objectives:

To build a greater rapport between the Museum and local school districts. To educate teachers regarding Greatest Places curriculum.
To establish a network of geography teachers who support and work with museum staff. (...and vice-versa)

Materials:

Paper, pencil, computers

Activities:

*Establish a team of district staff, local teacher participants, &MOSI staff to write goals, purposes, timelines, and funding for workshop series.
*Meet monthly, develop Workshops, secure speakers, secure funding, publicize effectively.
*Conduct Workshop series: Summer 98
* Plan teacher Open House for Dec 98 to promote IMAX film opening
*Evaluate Workshop series, modify, continue plans to further effective relations between Museum and local educators.

Assessment Strategies:

Use continuous improvement process(TQM) to evaluate program effectiveness & quality at all stages of development and implementation.
