Overview: Students create a series of 3 different thematic maps to use for comparison

Outcomes: For students to create maps using geographic map making skill and use inquiry to study the maps to make inferences.
Time Needed: 2-3 / 50 minute class periods
Materials: Outline Maps, colored pencils, atlases, and question sets.
Activities: Students are given three outline maps of an area. They chose three different themes to create maps from. Example land use, natural resources, zoning, etc. They should use map making skills to successfully complete their maps. You may make maps by hand or on the computer. Once students have completed their maps, they should be given the guiding questions to reflect on their maps.
